Introduction

Burgers are an all-time favorite for many people, but if you are a vegan or vegetarian, you can still enjoy the delicious taste of a burger without the meat. Plant-based burgers have become increasingly popular in recent years, and they are a great alternative to traditional burgers. In this article, we will share a recipe for a plant-based burger that tastes like beef.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked quinoa
  • 1 can of black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 buns
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, onion, pickles, vegan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or a potato masher. Leave some texture, don’t mash them completely.
  3. Add the cooked quinoa, diced onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well.
  4. Add the breadcrumbs and mix until the mixture is well combined and can hold its shape. If the mixture is too wet, add more breadcrumbs until it can hold its shape.
  5. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape them into patties. Make sure the patties are firm and not too thin or too thick.
  6. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until they are browned and crispy.
  7. Transfer the patties to a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes until they are cooked through.
  8. Toast the buns in the oven or on a skillet.
  9. Assemble the burgers with your favorite toppings.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
